The Quickest Tomato Sauce!!! (Click on Picture for Recipe)

When my garden is in full bloom and my tomatoes, and basil are exploding, there is nothing better than going through all the wonderful steps of making fresh tomato sauce, but in the winter when the grocery store tomatoes taste blah, I take the easy way out for this quick and delicious sauce.
This is my recipe for Tomato Sauce. It only takes 30 minutes from scratch!
1 29 oz can Sclafani Tomato Puree
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tbs salt
2 tbs granulated garlic
2 tbs granulated onion powder
1 tbs dried oregano crushed with your fingers
1 tbs sugar
You can chiffonade a few leaves of fresh basil and add to the sauce. I don't, because my family is not thrilled with the added taste.
Add all the above to a 6 qt pot. Stir together. Use the empty puree can and fill with 1 1/2 cans of water. Add to tomato mixture. Stir till a slight watery sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium low for 30 minutes. All done!!!
(I like Sclafani Puree because it is extra thick. If using any other brand, only add 1 can of water.)
I like to make a big pot to last me for the week so I can use in different recipes.
For the pictured sauce I added meatballs and hot sausage pieces. The meatballs are the same recipe as the Fried Meatballs under my Italian recipes, just don't fry them. Add them to the sauce when hot and beginning to boil. As far as the sausage, if you happen to live close enough to a Highland Park Market in Connecticut, you need to get those! They make their own and they are fresh and delicious!!! If not, you can use any other hot or mild sausage.
I would love it if you please leave a comment with your thoughts!!!!
