Picadillo

Picadillo

Happy Saturday!!

It's supposed to be a beautiful day today. I will be spending time in my garden planting some peppers for my Salsa Garden today, but for now, I would like to share my recipe for Picadillo (pee ca dee yo).

Picadillo is a very versatile Cuban dish. You can serve it over rice for a delicious dish. You can also use it as a stuffing for Papas Rellenas and Empanaditas. I will be showing you how to make those soon but for today, I will show you how to make Picadillo.

Picadillo

1 lb. 80 or 85 percent ground beef

1 medium green pepper, chopped

1 medium onion, chopped

5 garlic cloves, chopped

1/2 c. green olives, chopped

1/2 c. raisins

1 c. tomato sauce

1/2 extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp cumin

Few dashes hot pepper sauce

In a medium size frying pan, add oil and set to medium high heat. Add ground beef and brake up with a fork. Stir until slightly browned.

Add rest of ingredients except for the tomato sauce and hot sauce, stirring until it peppers and onions start to soften.

Add tomato sauce and few dashes hot pepper sauce, stir.

Bring to a slow boil and lower temperature to medium low. Simmer for about 20 minutes

Serve over Cuban White Rice for a delicious dinner. Avocado salad goes really nicely with it too.

Or you can refrigerate to use later to make Papas Rellenas or Empanaditas de Carne.

Enjoy!
